All 435 seats of the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of 100 seats in the Senate are up for grabs in this November’s midterm elections.1 While it is common for there to be significant congressional turnover in a U.S. president’s second year in office, this year’s election promises contentious drama. No one can say for sure how much the struggle for majority power will impact the stock market, but perhaps history can offer a few guidelines.
